CAFS Helideck Fire Protection

Written by admin | Dec 27, 2016 8:11:01 PM

Full Fire Fighting and Safety Equipment for protection of structural and fuel hazards on helicopter landing areas.

Designed and built for offshore environments.   CAFS Compressed Air Foam Units are designed per spec to meet client requirements and governing codes per region.

What are CAFS?

CAFS Compressed Air Foam Systems are a stored-energy fire suppression system that injects compressed air into the foam solution to generate a powerful flame-attacking agent.

This type of aspirated foam has a tighter bubble structures than standard versions -allowing it to adhere better on vertical surfaces as well horizontally while also penetrating fires deeper before releasing their liquid content which makes these kinds more effective at putting out fires.

CAFS Advantages in Fire Fighting

CAFS attacks all sides of the tetrahedron by smothering flames with "foam blanket" thus preventing oxygen from combining with fuel to disrupt the chemical reaction required for fire to continue. CAFS is 15 to 30 times more effective than water alone.

Burner Fire Control's entire self-contained CAFS platform has been designed & optimized to provide the highest durability and suppression capabilities on the market.  Foam discharge volume, flow, and aspiration are all engineered & tested for maximum performance.

The Helideck/Heliport system shown above is designed as stand-alone, self-contained and automatic - therefore the best option for use for protection on unmanned facilities.  The system has been through extensive acceptance and operations testing by major NOC's and approved by Global Compliance teams to be commissioned on offshore facilities.  The system was designed in joint effort between Burner Fire Control and the NOC.

The CAFS Foam used increased density with a higher expansion rate created by the aspiration, so the dissipation process would be same as any other fire fighting foam.  The CAFS does not block any type of drainage.  The solution is designed to drain as does water as the expansion dissipates, helping to still blanket any potential remaining fuel residue caused by the hazard.  Drain times vary obviously depending on weather conditions and climate, but can be estimated as a few hours for full drain.
