Burner Fire Control signs MSA with GE Renewable Energy for fire equipment inspection, maintenance and reporting services

Burner Fire Control has entered into an Master Services Agreement with GE Renewable Energy to provide all fire equipment inspection, maintenance and reporting services for the Block Island Wind Farm constructed off the coast of Rhode Island.

GE contacted Burner Fire Control directly and shared the challenges in finding a company with the capabilities and expertise to perform the requested services. Shortly after the briefing on the scope of work, Burner Fire Control sent specialized personnel to receive additional survival and safety training required to perform work on the turbines.  Personnel also acquired additional manufacturers training for the equipment located on the facilities.

About Block Island Wind Farm

Block Island Wind Farm is the first commercial offshore wind farm in the United States, located 3.8 miles (6.1 km) from Block Island, Rhode Island in the Atlantic Ocean. The five-turbine, 30 MW project was developed by Deepwater Wind. Construction began in 2015 and in late summer 2016 five Alstom Haliade 150-6-MW turbines were erected. Operations were launched in December 2016.  It is the largest project using wind power in Rhode Island.
